For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. (Genesis 18:19).
Abraham
God speaks highly of Abraham when he is deciding if he should hide what he is going to do to Sodom and Gomorrah. He knows Abraham will be blessed "Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him" (Genesis 18:18). He decides in verse 19 above, with "For I know him...". These words are powerful to us. We see in his Word about knowing God, about knowing Christ. In John 8:19, "Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also."
The scariest words in the scriptures that no one wants to hear are "But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not" (Matthew 25:12). We also see when Peter denied Christ; "And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew" (Matthew 26:72,74). There is alot to be made of "knowing" someone. When God knows you it is a blessing to us. We see God wants us to know Him as well. He is pleased with those who believe him. We see throughout the bible that when someone really believes (knows), they delight in being with God, listening to his spirit. The only way we can really know God, is to know Christ.
"And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified" (Matthew 28:5). Do we "seek Jesus, which was crucified"? Do we seek Jesus, who is risen?
As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:15).
Remembering my thoughts years ago, standing at the door, feeling God's presence and my prayer that he come in and bless my family, save my family; "that the LORD may bring upon" me, " that which he hath spoken of him." Have you ever felt God has promised you a blessing, and he shows you his blessing to you? We want to look for physical blessing (riches), but when God shows you spiritually blessings he is giving you, and you received them. I find the most blessed I have ever felt is when God shows me how personal he is in my life, how he has guided me in all that I do, how he cares about me. How he delights in me when I really believe, when I really let his spirit lead me.
Have you ever just been speechless when God shows you scripture and speaks to you through the spirit? When he shows you his timing. When he shows you how his timing has been in front of you and just now your eyes are opened and see it.
When you see your battles won like Jehosophat. Thank you God, for winning the battles in my life, and in other's life. Spiritually, I am the most blessed person. I delight in every word of God, and I delight in God knowing me. I am not referring to our knowing every ink-on-paper word, every memorized word. I am talking about how God uses his word in all of our lives. Do we really hear his word, not just the ink on paper?
God, I pray that the promise I felt those years ago "Standing At The Door", that thou will deliver those in my prayer. Guide them to seek you, and have them be with you in heaven. I pray will all certainty that thy spirit will fall upon them all, and move them to a faith in Jesus Christ. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
