Engraved on God's Hands

But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee. Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth. (Isaiah 49:14-18)

Are You Engraved Upon God's Hands?

There are times when we cry out "...my Lord hath forgotten me", but God says he will not "forget thee". The verse following where he has "graven thee upon the palms of my hands", are a powerful reminder of how much God thinks about us. Imagine how much we use our hands everyday, they are continually in front of us; continually a reminder of every work we do. At work, I often write notes on my hands to remind me of something as I am busy and don't have something nearby to write it down on. I may forget, but then I see on my hands my note. By being on the palms of his hands we are constant reminder to God of his love for us.

Scriptures don't specifically say, this verse is referring to the nails in Christ hands are how we are written on his hands. It is hard to imagine God engraving us in his hands though directly. It would appear more likely he knew Christ would be nailed to the cross, engraved for the whole world. Christ died for all, nailed to the cross for all. We could debate it is just for believers, however we will focus we are engraved in God's hands. Then following those words we see "...thy walls are continually before me". God was speaking to Isaiah when he sees the state of walls surrounding Jerusalem while they are in captivity in Babylon, they are fallen, broken down. Jerusalem walls came against the "destroyers", they are in "waste". How do we face the destroyer (Satan) in our life? Are our walls in "waste". Has Satan destroyed our life? Are we fallen?

Thank you, God for engraving me upon the palms of your hands. For not forgetting me in my time of troubles, times of blessings. Thank you for having compassion on me. Help me to not take thy name in vain, lightly when I pray "In Jesus Name, Amen". As thy suffering, blood, life was taken while engraving my name on thy palms.
